BRIDESMAIDS

We did it. We’re 4 for 4 on dresses. Nobody pooped in the sink or got sick from Indian Food.

I must say I underestimated the complexity of finding dresses for my BM’s. Ok, so I knew I certainly wasn’t making things easy for myself. Less than 80 days until the wedding. One BM is in Baton Rouge, LA. Blah, blah, blah….oh, and I wanted each girl to have a different dress in a different color.

Some inspiration:

I figured we could just find each girl a dress in a store at the mall. Not so much. We covered the entire mall looking for pretty dresses in soft solid colors - um, no. We found neon, bold prints, and satin. Gross.

We also found that Nordstrom now offers a bridal service. Score. And we found that dresses are in stock and can arrive within 3 - 8 business days. Double score. We chose two styles and colors that we really liked. 2 down, 2 to go.

We ventured to Alfred Angelo (holler, PROM) but it was a total bust. They had nothing we liked, and wouldn’t even rush the dresses if we didn’t order that day. Boo.

A quick Google search told us there was a David’s Bridal a few blocks away, so we made the venture. After some super serious puzzle work (no, serious) since they don’t make every dress style in every color in every size - we really had to game plan it out. Like, to the point of brain numbing exhaustion…thank baby Jesus I had 3 smarty-pants BM’s with me.

We thought we locked two dresses at David’s Bridal - but we weren’t able to order one of them. No worries - the dress showed up as available in the system - we just needed to call and order it during East Coast Business hours the next day.

The next day we find out the dress isn’t available and we needed to find one more dress. Back to Nordstroms for the final dress - ordered online and done!

And that is the saga of the dresses. End scene.

DG in Training

Nooo. Not Delta Gamma…Domestic Goddess. In a follow up to yesterday’s “P” word post I’m advancing to the next level of DG. I am becoming my Grandmother - I made Quiche for dinner. Send help.

In my defense I had a carton of eggs I need to use. It was either French toast, Giant Omelet, or “Ladies Who Lunch” Food. I had most of the remaining ingredients on hand, and when I saw this Quiche Joy the Baker Posted, I was sold.

I modified it to my standards…pre-made pie crust, and I added some mushrooms. I needed to use those up too.

Into the toaster over you go! Please, a moment of respect for my kitchen, I don’t have a “real” oven.

She’s baking away right now.

Send your Grandmothers over. Maybe we’ll play Gin and watch the news. It’ll be a grand ‘ol time.

Rise and Shine, it’s email time!

I started my Monday workday at 6am this morning. Emails, travel arrangements, text messages, computer issues. It.Was.Awesome. Not.

I didn’t sleep well last night…perhaps something to do with the fact that I have surgery tomorrow morning. I had plans to get to the gym this morning, but after my restless night’s sleep, I bailed. Just as Manfriend was leaving for work at 6:00am I checked my phone for emails/texts as I always do when I’m semi-conscious.

I had an email from the Harmon at 3:00am. Boo. It was time to get up.

As I was driving into work this morning I got a phone call telling me my surgery tomorrow was moved up an hour. Yay, now I get to wake up even earlier at 0’dark thirty to the max.

Surgery tomorrow + work craziness = not ideal.

Whateves.

On a happy note…yesterday I celebrated my golden birthday at Golden Road Brewing in Glendale. Stop whatever you’re doing…yes, even reading this (I’ll wait) and get your booty to that place!

Golden Road is amazing, hip, cool, fun, and tasty! But, I totally felt like I fit in! Strange, huh? I highly recommend it for large groups. There is plenty of seating…indoor and out. Even room for doggies! Plus, you order all food/drinks at the bar and pay there, so no crazy bill splitting at the end of the day. Total win. It’s also kid/family friendly.

Finger crossed, prayers, and good vibes for tomorrow are appreciated.

Hugs for everyone.

Obsessing Over: Work. I need to book and update some travel for the Harmon and I need the travel coordinator for the event to get back to me…I’ve done everything I can think of to try to get her to respond. It’s driving me crazy, since I need to have the travel set for THIS Friday. Booking travel is like cleaning the tile in the shower…just get in and get it over with!

Working On: Getting back to my C25K program. Work has been crazybusy and hasn’t allowed me to get my early morning runs in. I even set my alarm, all ready to get up this morning…noticing after I’d awoken that I set my alarm for an hour too late. Fail. Tomorrow it is!

Thinking About: Organizing. I’ve been Pinning away on Pinterest looking for inspiration to organize my closet and dresser. I’m way overdue to purge some clothing and items.

Anticipating: Having a washer and dryer and a driveway!

Listening To: Pandora…currently, Switchfoot.

Eating: Nothing, but fantasizing about making a snack as soon as I post this. Apple and PB?

Wishing: It was Friday. I’m over this week. Funny, since it’s my Birthday on Thursday. Meh.

The Minja: Community Premieres TONIGHT! 8/7c on NBC

theminja:

It’s a little weird knowing exactly what it took to get this scene to look as awesome as it does here and the stories behind every little thing going on in this shot. The premiere of Community is finally here and i’m beginning to think that this summer was all just a very long and awesome…

Today is a Special Day

It’s September 22, 2011. At 8pm/7pm Central Time Season 3 of Community Premiers!

I promised you a shameless plug…and I will deliver.

I’ve been watching the show since the beginning, and I’m a big fan. This past Spring, when I was recovering from my bionic ankle-ness, I got a call. A call that would lead to a few more calls, two interviews and a job offer. I was hired to be the new Assistant to the Creator and Executive Producer on Community, Dan Harmon.

I started working on the show in May, and it’s been an awesome experience. This is my first adventure into the world of Network Episodic TV, and I’m a fan. It’s much different than working on Feature Films. The hours are different. The schedule is different. The writing. Oh, the writing. I am truly amazed and the talent, dedication and intelligence that our writer’s possess.

Please watch our show, lot’s of really good people work very hard to make it.

Here’s what you have to look forward to:

This:

Which leads to this:

Also:

And…what I’m most excited about:

It’s going to be a great season. New characters. Fun stories. And Dean Pelton in more awesome costumes.

Go Greendale Human-beings!

I have a new blog…

Are you there Oprah? It's me, Ali: Friendship Test- Carts

hell yes. it should be a crime to not put your cart back.

alisonian:

I will judge if we can be friends based on how you handle shopping carts.

If you:

1. Put your cart back where it goes, we can be friends. Now, this mean you roll that baby all the way to those metal bars and you push it in until there is no question in your mind that it will stay there.

Read the newspaper or a magazine or something that is on paper. Don’t let the whole ‘print journalism is dying!’ bullshit come true because sometimes dying newspaper jokes can be really funny. Also, if you stare a a computer screen too much you’ll either gain wrinkles around your eyes or you’ll…
